Ticket Scandal Rocks Jayhawks

Do not use tickets inappropriately. Student-athletes and coaches are not the only ones that can hurt their athletics program and their own futures by using tickets inappropriately. Kansas recently had a problem in their ticketing department where staff members have been siphoning off tickets and reselling them for personal profit. The report cites that 5 Kansas athletic department employees and one consultant inappropriately resold tickets over the last five years.  The value of these tickets is estimated at over $1 million and maybe as high as $3 million. All of the participants are no longer with KU athletics. This ticket scalping scheme was executed in many different facets from premium seats sold to boosters to tickets being sold to brokers. The one thing in common was that the employees always kept the money. The full extent is as of yet unknown as the independent investigators were only able to go back to five years in record. This activity allegedly involves other Universities as well and a Federal Investigation is underway.
