George Steinbrenner Passes at 80

"A person close to George Steinbrenner tells The Associated Press that the New York Yankees’ owner died Tuesday morning.  The person spoke on condition of anonymity because the team had not yet made the announcement." AP

A man whom you could say is possibly the most influential person on the Yankees who never played a game.  George took a great franchise and built an empire.  Whether or not you like what he did, you cannot disagree he was a winner.  He was an owner big enough to dismantle Yankee Stadium and build it again.  Respect has to be paid to this man who accomplished much of what he set out to and did it in his own way.
