StePhenom

StePhenom Strasburg was well... Phenomenal in his debut.

Sure it is tough to upset a huge favorite, comeback from a big deficit in a game or series, and overcome insurmountable odds and snatch victory from the jaws of defeat.  What Stephen Strasburg did Tuesday night may very well be more difficult.  Pitching 7 innings giving up only 4 hits, 2 earned runs, and striking out 14 all while getting the win in his Major League debut? No, although all that was incredibly impressive.  The most difficult thing the young 21 year old did last night was not to throw the ball 100 mph, but to meet the expectations.

Exceeding expectations that is easy.  Now meeting the astronomical expectations when the weight of an entire franchise is on your shoulders and the eyes of a nation are watching, that is truly something special.  And maybe just maybe this young man of Herculean hype can consistently do what few have done before him and what he managed to do tonight and that is the expected.
