Exciting or Productive?
An interesting College Football debate I heard recently was about offensive styles and the outcome of each. A wishbone or traditional style offense often produces maintainable results and can turn into a dominant team similar to Alabama of last year. The contrast would be a gun slinger spread offense similar to what Texas Tech has ran for the past few years. Critics of the spread offense say that is is flashy and exciting and can be productive but has a lower ceiling of possibility. You also have to realize which type of coaching style is more job security. Do people who show up and watch a spread offense air the ball out all day have more tolerance if the end result is a loss. For a middle of the pack team trying to get fans excited I would lean toward the spread offense in order to create some excitement and to please fans. My question for you is which would you prefer?
